La Confiteria—first launched as a confectionary store in the early 20th century but now one of Barcelona’s coolest bars—is known as “of the great modernist jewels of Barcelona”. Up until the late ‘90s the bar was ordinary and unremarkable, save the brutalist charm of the wood and mirrors of the old confectionary shop window. But in 2017 all that changed, when a restaurant group specializing in high-end cocktails took over management, revamping the entire space and crafting a to-die-for cocktail menu. Insider tip? Try the Carmen de Mairena: a delicious and spicy shore derivation of Bloody Mary with vodka, curry and cumin.
